The Most Familiar ‘Meta-Unit-ization’.
-- Part 3: Quoting
Seldon Series.
Dear Reader,
It
is my pleasure,
and my honor, as an elected member
of the Foundation Encyclopedia
Dialectica [F.E.D.] General Council, and as a voting member of F.E.D., to share, with you, from time to time, as they are approved for public release, by the F.E.D. General Council, key excerpts from the internal writings, and from the internal sayings, of our co-founder,
Karl Seldon.
This third release in
this new such
series is posted below
[Some E.D.
standard edits have been applied, in the version presented below, by the editors
of the F.E.D. Special Council for the Encyclopedia,
to the direct transcript of our co-founder’s
discourse].
In this 3rd installment, Seldon describes the tie between the «aufheben» processes generally, and
processes of ‘meta-unit-ization’.
“The «monads» level – the units level – ‘meta-unit-ization’
dialectogram, above, depicts what, to my mind, depicts the most familiar kind
of »synchronic-dialectical, «aufheben»
relationship, of ‘meta-unit-ization’, that humans encounter, incessantly, and not
always consciously, in their daily lives.”
“That ‘qualo-fractal
dialectogram’ depicts two, qualitatively distinct levels or scales of [ideo-]ontology:
a lower scale, consisting of seven phonetic character units, combined with a
higher-scale, consisting of a single word unit.”
“The
connecting arrows, issuing from the highest points of the phonetic character
units’ ovals, and converging at, to, and in the lowest point of the single word
unit’s oval, are there to suggest that the many character units unite or fuse
to form the single word unit, for the word “MEANING”.”
They depict
the nature of this word meta-unit as being made up out of the heterogeneous
multiplicity of seven distinct, qualitatively different character [sub-]units
[except that one of the character-units occurs twice: ‘N’].”
Of course,
the character units level, and the word unit level, in the »synchronic-dialectical, «aufheben»
relation depicted above, do share something in common. They are all sounds symbols, each to be “sounded”;
each representing a sound of human speech.
Each phonetic character is to be sounded separately on its own
level. In the word unit, the individual
sounds of this word’s component characters are sounded in a way which sonically
“blurs” their individual characters’ sound-values into a new, unified sounding.”
Despite
their unity in both representing speech-soundings, the word unit scale gains,
over and above the character-units’ scale, a vast new determination, one that
is absent from the phonetic character scale, or latent in its individual
character units: MEANING!”
“The written
word unit has meaning, calls for a semantic sounding, and is a semantic written
symbol, whereas the written phonetic character units are not – they are ‘sub-sematic’ symbols.”
