What Good is Genius?

What Good is Genius?

-- Part 12: Seldon’s Secrets Series.

Dear Reader,

It is my pleasure, and my honor, as an elected member of the Foundation Encyclopedia Dialectica [F.E.D.] General Council, and as a voting member of F.E.D., to share, with you, from time to time, as they are approved for public release, by the F.E.D. General Council, key excerpts from the internal writings, and from the internal sayings, of our co-founder, Karl Seldon.

This twelfth release in this new such series is posted below [Some E.D. standard edits have been applied, in the version presented below, by the editors of the F.E.D. Special Council for the Encyclopedia, to the direct transcript of our co-founder’s discourse].

In this 12th installment, Seldon asks the question “What Good is Genius?”, and offers his answer.

Seldon –

¿Of what human good is human genius, if it does not serve – if it merely “shows off”?”

“¿If it does not serve to enrich the lives of others, and to augment their ecstasy, their joy of life?”

“¿If it does not enhance the life-joy of other humans – of geniuses and non-geniuses alike, or of those who have not yet discovered their own unique genius, life- mission, life-purpose, life-gift, and life-meaning?”

“¿Of what human good is human genius if it is not a gift that, of itself, gives of itself to others -- to humanity, and, even if in a seemingly miniscule, merely mesocosmic way, to our cosmos as a whole?
