‘Our Cosmos as a Whole is Its Own [Imperfect] Clock’ -- Part 07: ‘Seldon on the
Record’ Series.
Dear Reader,
It
is my pleasure,
and my honor, as an elected member of the Foundation Encyclopedia
Dialectica [F.E.D.] General Council, and as a voting member of F.E.D., to share, with you, from time to time, as they are approved for public release by the F.E.D. General Council, key excerpts from the internal writings, and from the internal sayings, of our co-founder,
Karl Seldon.
The seventh
release in
this new such
series is posted below
[Some E.D.
standard edits have been applied, in the version presented below, by the editors of
the F.E.D. Special Council for the Encyclopedia,
to the direct transcript of our co-founder’s
discourse].
In this 7th installment, Seldon describes the way in which our total cosmos
constitutes its own, immanent -- if imperfect -- chronometer, but, even so, overcoming
the seeming prohibition of same per Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.
Seldon
--
“Our cosmos, as a self-expanding whole, is its own ‘‘‘natural
clock’’’, albeit, as an irregular clock, an imperfect clock.”
“This
universal ‘clock process’ is the process of the ‘‘‘radial’’’, presently accelerating,
spatial self-expansion of and by our universe itself – “Dark Energy”.”
“The ‘definitionally self-expanding’, ‘finitary set of all sets’ that we have described and modeled, in detail, elsewhere, can be taken as a model of this whole-cosmos ‘clock-process’ of accelerating cosmological self-expansion, in both of the “moments” of its implicit meaning – in the sense of our universe’s topological, geometrical, quantitative self-expansion of the count-quantity of standard length units in its ‘‘‘radius’’’ or ‘‘‘diameter’’’, but also in the sense of our universe’s qualitative self-expansion, that is, its ontological self-expansion: the continuing irruption in it, from out of it, of new ontology within this expanding ‘‘‘volume’’’ or ‘‘‘capacity’’’ of our cosmos.”
