The overall Encyclopedia
Dialectica ‘dialectic of
Nature’ ontological-categorial progression ‘meta-model’ includes the dialectical
partial synthesis category, ‘synphysis’ category,
or ‘uniphysis’ category, symbolized by qbe, in its 8th model
epoch.
That epoch ‘‘‘contains’’’ the
ancient macro-cosmological hybridization
processes of multi-eukaryotic-cellular biota-units-interacting-with-eukaryote-single-cell-units, still
ongoing today, but only known to occur, so far, on planet Earth.
The epoch 8 model is
excerpted, below, using the NQ dialectical
language’s ‘dyadic Seldon function’, with that function-form operating
upon the ‘Regenerist’ Hypothesis “Dark Energy” ‘spandetron’ units’

the [cosmo-]ontological category of “ecto-symbiotic” natural formations combining
just eukaryotic
single cell units, qe, with asocial multicellular biota units, qb.
“Multicellular Biota & “Eukaryotic Single Cells”. Within the above-written overall ontological,
dialectical [i.e., ‘multi-«aufheben»-ating’, ‘multi-meta-unit-izing’]
categorial progression, is the sub-progression that forms the focus of this
blog-entry, namely –
qb <x> qe = qe <+> qbe.
This component-subprocess,
categorizes and ‘character-izes’ [i.e., ‘algebra-izes’]
– “stands for” – asocial multicellular biota
units/eukaryotic single cell units interaction-units or natural-formation
units.

Some Known Planet-Earth Instantiations of the ‘Dialectical-Categorial
Partial-Synthesis’ Units of [cosmo-]ontological category qbe.
This ‘merely-hybrid’
ontological category is exemplary of dialectical synthesis categories in
general in the dialectics of nature.
For its cosmo-ontological model epoch, model epoch 8, with a total of 28 or 256 ontological categories possibly extant, per this ‘meta-model’, category --

-- is a partial ‘dialectical synthesis category’, or ‘uni-category’, because it does not combine the subscripts of all of the ‘self-hybrid categories’ that are extant in model-epoch 8. The epoch 8 ‘full synthesis’ merely-hybrid category/full ‘uni-category’ is --

“Self-Interactions of cellular qe units:

Units inhering in the ontological category of qe ‘self-combinations’
began on planet Earth in deep time, and, in the NQ dialectics-of-nature
short-hand, look like this, as a component calculation within the qx28 calculation
overall:

This ‘self-hybridization’ of eukaryotic single cell units led to lasting symbiotic relationships, many
of which persist into planet Earth present.
The meaning of
category-symbol qbe encompasses
three major sub-categories of b with
e
interactions: what we call (1.) ‘exo-symbiotic interactions, or “ecto-symbiotic”
interactions; (2.) what we
call ‘endo-symbiotic’ interactions, and (3.) what we call predatory interactions, each
addressed separately.
1. ‘Exo’-Symbiotic qbe Sub-Category
Examples.
Highly complex, external mutualistic
coalitions between multicellular ‘meta-biota’ units and external eukaryotic
single cell units are rife on our planet today.
In these non-predatory,
non-parasitic coalitions, the b and e units are mutually-external, but
closely and vitally associated. These
stable coalitions represent both evolutionary bridges and highly specialized
modern ecological teams.
There are many widespread,
ecologically vital cases of symbiosis combining multicellular eukaryotic hosts
and single-celled eukaryotic symbionts in mutual externality, but in close association nonetheless.
In these relationships, the
single-celled eukaryote lives closely alongside the tissues of the
multicellular animal, plant, or fungus. Some
of the most prominent, documented examples of such dual-species partnerships
include:
A. Giant Clams and Photosynthetic Algae
- The Multicellular Host: Giant clams (mollusks in the genus Tridacna, such as Tridacna gigas).
- The Single-Celled Eukaryote: Symbiodiniaceae dinoflagellates (the same family found in corals).
How it works: Unlike the case with corals, the single-celled algae
do not live inside the clam’s individual cells. Instead, they live inside a specialized,
highly branched tubular system in the clam's colorful, sun-exposed mantle
tissue. The clam uses structural “iridophore”
cells to act like tiny lenses, focusing sunlight deep into its tissues so the
single-celled eukaryotes can photosynthesize efficiently and feed the clam from
within.
B. Lichens (Fungi/Green Algae natural formations)
- The
Multicellular Host Units: Filamentous fungi (primarily Ascomycete or
Basidiomycete fungi).
- The Single-Celled Eukaryote Units: Microscopic single-celled green algae (most commonly in the genus Trebouxia or Chlorella).
How it works: A lichen is not a single
organism, but a composite framework. The multicellular fungal threads (hyphae)
weave a protective structure that shields the delicate, single-celled
eukaryotic algae from drying out or being destroyed by intense ultraviolet
light. In exchange, the single-celled
algae photosynthesize and supply the fungal matrix with food.
2. ‘Ecto’-Symbiotic qbe Sub-Category Examples.
Highly complex, internal
mutualistic coalitions between multicellular ‘meta-biota’ units and internalized
eukaryotic single cell units are rife on our planet today.
Single-celled eukaryotic
organisms form vital, mutually beneficial relationships with multicellular
hosts, often driving the survival of entire ecosystems or enabling the
digestion of complex nutrients.
a. Reef-Building Corals
and Dinoflagellates
This is the most ecologically significant animal-protist symbiosis on/in planet Earth.
- The
Multicellular Host Units: Scleractinian
corals (marine invertebrates in the phylum Cnidaria, such as Acropora
or Porites
species).
- The
Single-Celled Eukaryote Units: Zooxanthellae
(specifically dinoflagellates in the family Symbiodiniaceae,
such as Symbiodinium,
Breviolum,
or Cladocopium).
How it works: The single-celled dinoflagellates units live directly
inside the gastro-dermal cell sub-units of the coral animal units.
The algae units perform photosynthesis and share up to 90% of their organic
nutrients (sugars and amino acids) with the coral units. In return, the coral units provide the algae units
with a protected environment, elevated access to sunlight, and “waste products”
(carbon dioxide and ammonia) needed for photosynthesis.
b. Termites and Wood-Digesting Protists
- The Multicellular Host: Lower termite units (invertebrates such as Reticulitermes flavipes).
- The Single-Celled Eukaryote: Large, complex single-celled flagellated protist units (such as Trichonympha or Pyrsonympha).
How it works: Termites
feed almost exclusively on wood (cellulose), but they completely lack the
enzymes required to digest it. They rely
on millions of single-celled protist units living packed inside
their hindgut. These single-celled
eukaryotes swallow the microscopic wood particles via phagocytosis and ferment
the cellulose into acetate, which the multicellular termite units absorb as their
primary energy source.
Note: Because termites are “eusocial” insect-animals, the above example is actually a specimen of category
qle [---> q320.
c. Green Hydra and Chlorella
- The Multicellular Host: The green hydra (Hydra viridissima, a small freshwater cnidarian).
- The Single-Celled Eukaryote: Zoochlorellae (specifically single-celled green algae like Chlorella vulgaris).
How it works: The single-celled algae units live inside
the gastrodermal cell sub-units of the hydra.
Under normal sunlight, the algae units synthesize maltose (a sugar) to help
feed the hydra units. This symbiotic
relationship is so highly evolved that even if the hydra units are starved of
external prey, they can survive indefinitely on the sugars generated by their
internal single-cell-unit partners.
d. Marine Invertebrate Mutualists
- Philaster
guamensis:
- Partners: Flatworm units with sea slug units.
- Description: This ciliated protist eukaryotic units form endosymbiotic
relationships with multicellular marine invertebrate flatworm units,
helping to recycle the flatworm units’ metabolic waste products into
usable organic compounds for those multicellular host units while creating
a stable, protected environment for the eukaryotic cell units, internalized
into the flatworm ‘meta-biotic’ units.
The sample of specimens cited
above show that the ‘‘‘dialectics-of-nature’’’, combinatoric
ontological-category symbol qbe has
Earth-immanent instances that represent symbiotic combinations.
Dialectical Nature of the Opposition Between Multi-cellular ‘meta-biota’ units & eukaryotic single cell units.
The ‘‘‘dialectical-categorial
antithesis’’’ between ‘multi-eukaryotic-cellular meta-biota’ units and eukaryotic
single-cell units – which is overcome for their ‘uni-category’ hybrid units, via
a categorial dialectical synthesis – is one that we usually may not be
able to directly, sensuously perceive, since at least the eukaryotic units are
far too minute for our unaided eyes to see, or our fingers to feel.
That opposition is produced via a ‘concrete negation operation’, yielding a ‘‘‘negativity’’’, a specific ‘not-ness’, that qualitatively, ontologically distinguishes the two.
That [mutual-]negation
operation is not any “abstract negation”
operation, that obliterates its operands into a “nothingness” [cf. Hegel],
e.g., into a, Boolean, 0.
It begins in a “determinate
negation” operation, starting with a self-«aufheben»
self-operation, by which, e.g., multiple eukaryotic
single-cell units coalesce themselves into single ‘multi-eukaryotic-cellular’
organism units, or ‘meta-biota’ – “meta-zoa” and “meta-phyta” – thereby determinately-negating
their ‘eukaryoticity’
determination, but also conserving that ‘eukaryote-ness’
inside their collective new ‘meta-bioticity’
quality, and uplifting themselves into the higher
size/mass/complexity scale of meta-biotic multicellular units, leaving behind their former
‘eukaryote-ness’-only
complexity scale and level.
These eukaryotic
single-cell units thus collectively continue themselves,
in extension, by adding a new level/scale to, the multi-level ‘qualo-fractal’
scales-progression, that began, per our hypothesis, with/from the
“Dark Energy”
‘spandetron’ units – of “empty” physical space itself; of
‘the ‘spandetron expanse’ – themselves.
Then, once units of both the e ontology and the b ontology are in existence
together, a further “determinate negation” operation, this
time an allo-«aufheben», mutual operation, can
ensue, by which, e.g., multiple eukaryotic single-cell units coalesce with multiple ‘multi-eukaryotic-cellular’
organism units, or ‘meta-biota’ units, to form ‘merely-hybrid’ new
units, which dialectically synthesize the e qualities and/with the b qualities, to
form natural formations which are neither simply of the b kind, nor simply
of the e
kind, yet partake in both qualities, but are, overall, of a new, qbe or qeb kind.
