It is my pleasure, and my honor, as an elected member of the Foundation Encyclopedia Dialectica [F.E.D.] General Council, and as a voting member of F.E.D., to share, with you, from time to time, as they are approved for public release by the F.E.D. General Council, Seldon’s commentaries on key Encyclopedia Dialectica concepts of Seldonian Theory.

“What if:

“Empty” Space is not empty?”

“Empty” Space is not “void”?

“Empty” Space is substance?

“Empty” Space is not “vacuum”, but plenum?”

 

“If “empty” space is actually a substance, e.g., if it is the root substance at the foundation of all other/later substances, then it must be a substance so ultra-primitive, so ultra-minute, so almost-vanishing in its scale, that we, with our ‘Darwinianly-formed’ sensoria, cannot detect its “granularity”, because it does not interact “strongly”, as per the “strong nuclear force”, nor “weakly”, as per the “weak nuclear force”, nor electrically-magnetically, as per the “electromagnetic force”, nor even ‘gravitically’, except to oppose gravity -- but detectably so, only on the grandest of the accessible scales of our “visible universe”.”

 

“Thus it was only at the uttermost end of the 20^th Century that humanity became aware of, discerned, detected this possible “substance of space”, this “Dark Energy”, via our scientists’ discernment of the accelerating expansion of the cosmos, of space itself, on a cosmological scale”

 

“Suppose that “Dark Energy”, this apparent non-dilutive stuff accelerating the expansion of space, with an apparently constant energy-density in each increment of added space, is not just a “property” of “empty” space.  Suppose that it IS space; that “Dark Energy” is what, actually-nonempty-space, really is.  Suppose that space is nothing other than ‘the spandetron expanse’ – an «arithmos» of ultra-minute «monads» [‘spandetrons’, because they both ‘span’ and “expand”] whose nature and whose only activity is to continually self-replicate, and whose rate of self-replication is diminished only by gravity, and, in the first instance, only by the ur-gravity that is “Dark Matter”.”

 

“But “Dark Matter’s” energy-density dilutes and diminishes as space expands – as “Dark Energy” expandedly reproduces itself.  Thus, “Dark Energy”, over time, gets the upper hand over “Dark Matter”, and the self-expansion of space thus accelerates again.”

 

“And, suppose further that an initial ‘cosmological inflation’ was no “inflaton” phenomenon, but simply “Dark Energy”, unopposed by as yet non-existent “Dark Matter”.  And suppose that the ‘excession’ of “Dark Energy” spatial self-expansion acceleration, to beyond a vastly superluminal velocity-of-expansion limit, but a finite limit nonetheless, was what gave birth to the first “Dark Matter”, which then restrained further expansion-acceleration.  Until continued, albeit slower, spatial self-expansion sufficiently diluted its “Dark Matter” opposition to allow accelerated spatial self-expansion to manifest again, albeit not as robustly as in the initial “inflationary” expansion, given the continued if diluted presence of “Dark Matter” [and, later, of “Bright Matter” as well].”

 

“Will ‘excession’ eventually ensue again?  Will the cosmos again, thereby, be flooded with “Dark Matter” negentropy; “Dark Matter” free energy [and, again later, also with some
“Bright Matter” and “Bright Energy” negentropy, born, once again, from out of the core of “Dark Matter”]?”   

 

“That is the dialectical-cosmological hypothesis that we are pursuing.   It is an hypothesis of a ‘‘‘dialectic of Nature’’’ grounded and founded in an initial cosmological antithesis, that of “Dark Energy anti-gravity” as the expansive ‘self-force’ of accelerating spatial self-expansion, soon countered by – as born out of the “Dark Energy” process itself – the ‘anti-anti-gravity’ contractive force known as “Dark Matter”.”
