Part 06:  Seldon’s Message Series --

The human PHENome «Aufheben»-Overcoming the human GENome.

Dear Reader,

It is my pleasure, and my honor, as an officer of the Foundation Encyclopedia Dialectica [F.E.D.] Office of Public Liaison, to share with you, from time to time, as they are approved for public release by the F.E.D. General Council, key excerpts from the internal writings, and from the internal sayings, of our co-founder, Karl Seldon.

The sixth such release in this new series is entered below [Some E.D. standard edits have been applied, in the version presented below, to the direct transcript of our co-founder’s discourse].

For more information regarding, and for [further] instantiations of, these Seldonian insights, please see --

ENJOY!

Regards,

Miguel Detonacciones,

The human PHENome «Aufheben»-Overcoming the human GENome.

... Terran human «species» history can be viewed, from one vantage, as a progression of re-iterated, continually-advancing, ever-deepening interventions of the human phenome into ‘‘‘the human genome’’’, beginning with simple learning itself, with the passing-on of that learning from generation to generation via ‘exo-somatic’, non-chromosomal, cultural means.  It even includes aberrant selective human [in-]breeding programs of certain ruling aristocracies, supposedly modeled on the selective breeding and ‘‘‘artificial selection’’’ of livestock and of other domesticated animals and plants. ... We predict that this progression will continue to the point of the self-transformation of Terran human «species» ontology into a META-human «species» ontology, via deliberate self-re-engineering of ‘‘‘the human genome’’’, as mediated by and through the human phenome, via its technologies.
