It is my pleasure, and my honor, as an elected member of the Foundation Encyclopedia Dialectica [F.E.D.] General Council, and as a voting member of F.E.D., to share, with you, from time to time, as they are approved for public release by the F.E.D. General Council, Seldon’s commentaries on key Encyclopedia Dialectica concepts of Seldonian Theory.

 

 

This 9th text in this new such series is posted herewith, together with supporting text-images and diagrams [Some E.D. standard edits have been applied, in the version presented below, by the editors of the F.E.D. Seldon –

 

“Something to notice: _NQ-algebraic, dialectical categorial progressions, modeling the ontology of a given Domain, are scaled self-similarity sequences of “purely”-qualitative category-symbol terms.” 

 

“They are scaled, typically, by the complexity, and perhaps also by the size – by the volume, and/or by the mass – of the actual units or «monads» to which they refer, which mentally ‘‘‘populate’’’ each successive ‘self-hybrid’ ontological category in that Domain’s specific progression. 

 

Each successive ‘self-hybrid’ category-symbol ‘‘‘houses’’’ units which are similar to those of every other ‘self-hybrid’ category of ontological units in their, native, Domain-progression, even if due only to the «aufheben» ‘meta-uniticity’, or ‘meta-monad-icity’, of the units modeled by each such category-symbol. 

 

But such a dialectical category-symbols series is not aptly called a ‘‘‘scaled self-similarity regress’’’. 

 

On the contrary, it is ‘finitary scaled self-similarity progress’, or a ‘finitary scaled self-similarity progression’.

 

Such a progression is not delved by any mounting magnification down into levels ever-more-minute.

Instead, such a progression rises up, sequentially, successively modeling «monads» that build upon themselves, into ever-more-‘meta’, ‘meta-«monads»’, from their start in, e.g., a more ‘micro’, «arché»-scale, up into increasingly more ‘macro’ scales, until, after a finite – albeit, sometimes, a multitudinous – procession of category-symbols, their progression culminates with creating the symbolic scale which describes the actual completion of the potential of that progression’s Domain.”
